Wayne Taylor Wayne Taylor is
Professor Emeritus of the School of Design, N.C. State University. The artist
was born in Maple, North Carolina in 1931 and raised in Currituck County. After
serving with the US Coast Guard, Taylor attended North Carolina State College
where he graduated with a degree in Architecture in 1958. He was immediately
hired back as an instructor by his mentor Henry Kamphoefner, and taught at the
School of Design until retirement in 1994. Taylor has
exhibited paintings, drawings and graphic works across the Eastern United
States during a long and prolific career. He has designed and built numerous
homes and small buildings. The artist has won awards and purchase prizes for
his work including the prestigious Rome Prize in 1960 (A two year fellowship in
Architecture at the American Academy in Rome, Italy). |
