Adam and Cindy Cave

Both Adam and Cindy love to travel and have spent a great deal of time in Europe, especially in their formative years. Cindy studied classical painting in Paris and Florence and traveled extensively around Europe at the time. Adam lived in Portugal between 1984 and 1989 where he attended highschool as well as boarding school in England. The longterm friendships and contacts that were formed over thirty years ago are a big reason why the couple can now offer these amazing art workshops in one of the most beautiful locations imaginable.

Quinta da Conceição

Quinta da Conceição is a magnificent, newly restored and refurbished 1715 baroque manor house guest house with seven character filled bedrooms and suites, grand living spaces and a magnificent swimming pool and spa. The house is surrounded by charming gardens, cork oak forests and unspoilt countryside. The estate is located near Azeitão just 30 minutes south of Lisbon. For artists there is a full studio space, open 24 hours a day and a breathtaking array of subjects from the intimate to the monumental.

David Dunlop

Landscape artist David Dunlop has been called a "modern-day old master," and with good reason. His paintings transcend the ephemeral and often temperamental nature of the contemporary art world; David says of his work, "I think the idea is not to startle but to offer insight, which is far more elusive and difficult. Works of art that startle are transitory. The most effective painting doesn't prejudice people toward certain results; it lets people do their own thinking and project their own imagination into the painting." David himself is something of a Renaissance man. Well-versed in philosophy, art history, and of course a master painter, David seems to capture all that is best about art: fantastic talent, poetry, and a sense of history and legacy.

David Dunlop grew up in St. Louis and attended the College of Wooster in Ohio. He majored in philosophy and English literature. After traveling Europe, studying at the Art Students League, and attending the Union Theological Seminary, David received his MFA from the Pratt Institute. David then moved to Connecticut and began teaching at the Silvermine School in the 1990's where he continues to teach today.
